Welcome

The Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH) has been an important part of the Greater Houston community for almost 40 years.  What started out as a small group that met in the basement of Texas Children’s Hospital has grown into a thriving, multi-faceted program with our office located at 7015 W. Tidwell, Bldg. G, Suite 108, in Houston and more than 1,500 members from all over the Houston area.  DSAH has branched out into community groups in Baytown, Katy, North Side, Pearland, Spring, and The Woodlands, and others are forming.

Our mission at DSAH, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is to create awareness and acceptance of children and adults with Down syndrome through advocacy, socialization, education, and medical outreach.  The website plays an intrinsic part of this mission.

DSAH envisions a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations, and become accepted as a wonderfully normal part of a very diverse community.  And this website depicts our self-advocates engaging in activities that are as diverse as they are – once again proving that they are “More Alike Than Different.”

As DSAH has grown, we have gradually developed programs for all age groups – from those requiring prenatal counseling and/or adoption referral to those who have a newborn and receive a New Baby Gift Basket delivered at area hospitals, all the way to our Education for Life Program for our adult self-advocates who have graduated from high school.  DSAH invites you to learn more about Down syndrome, review our current newsletter, our programs and services and to get involved.  We also invite you to consider being a volunteer.

Things Keep Looking Up!
